Explore This Hidden Rooftop Farm at 1 Utama Where You Can Handpick Fresh Veggies

Fresh Growcer 1 Utama - Pesticide Free Handpicked Vegetables

There’s a little rooftop farm not known by many called Fresh Growcer on the third floor of 1 Utama Shopping Centre that sells fresh pesticide-free vegetables for as low as RM1.

According to MalaysiaNow, Fresh Growcer is run by two partners – Emil Jihad and Tony Yong who have converted some of the parking space on the roof of the 1 Utama shopping mall into a farm complete with a fully functional aquaponics system.

Fresh fruit and veggies are on exhibit in the front of Fresh Growcer (Rooftop Farm @ 1Utama), while the aquaponics garden is to the left.

The farm is built with sustainability in mind and uses no pesticide as the water from the garden collects in a fish pond, where fat orange carps frolic and the excrement from the fish in the aquaponics pond is used as extra fertiliser for the vegetables.

There are 20 different vegetable product varieties, mostly of the Asian and European leafy variety, while the European variety comprises kale and lettuce greens, the Asian leafy category includes a variety of mustard, spinach, and kale.

Furthermore, other than fresh vegetables and fruits, they even have live fish on sale where you can choose which fish you want and they’ll handle the rest including cutting and cleaning.

However, the variety of produce changes over time depending on what Fresh Growcer have to offer.
