The FIVE GUYS family is thrilled to open its second Malaysia store in the capital Kuala Lumpur. Following the opening of its first store in Resorts World Genting just last year, the American burger chain opened its doors right in the heart of the luxury shopping district at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 11 April 2022.
Pavilion Mall is one of the most prominent malls in Malaysia and is located in the heart of Bukit Bintang. Blending the best of international and local retail, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is the defining authority in fashion, food, and urban leisure.
Similarly, the second store retains its policy of serving 100% halal-certified beef on its menu. Stretching over 2570 square feet, the second store is located at a prime stretch in the mall and comfortably houses up to a total of 66 patrons.
The opening of the second FIVE GUYS Malaysia store was made possible by the partnership with Zouk Group. The latest expansion into Malaysia is an exciting step that contributes to the Zouk Group’s ever-growing food and beverage portfolio in Asia, thereby transforming it into a global lifestyle and entertainment brand.

The FIVE GUYS Story
FIVE GUYS started off as a family-run burger and fries joint with the aim of making burgers and fries cooked to perfection. It has been a Washington D.C. area favourite since 1986 when Jerry and Janie Murrell offered sage advice to three of the Murrell brothers: “Start a business or go to college.”
The business route won and the Murrells opened a carry-out burger joint in Arlington, Virginia. Under the guidance of Jerry and Janie Murrell, the family served only hand-formed burgers cooked to perfection on a grill along with fresh-cut fries cooked in pure peanut oil. The little burger joint picked up pace and soon had a cult-like following. Customers voted FIVE GUYS burger “#1” in the D.C. metro area.
Early in 2003, Jerry and Janie, together with the “FIVE GUYS”, began offering franchise opportunities. Within 18 months, FIVE GUYS Enterprises sold options for more than 300 units. The overwhelming success of franchising a local restaurant made national news.
Today, there are over 1700 locations worldwide and another 1500 units in development. FIVE GUYS debuted in China, Austria, Australia and Malaysia last year. FIVE GUYS aims to constantly expand in these markets and continue to grow throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. With this goal in mind, FIVE GUYS opens its second store in Malaysia just six months after its debut in Genting Highlands.
Redefining The Global Burger Landscape
Despite the rapid developments, FIVE GUYS’ mission is to redefine the global burger landscape by focusing on freshness and quality. Everything at FIVE GUYS is made to order. The signature buns are freshly baked daily. Alongside the buns, the hand-made patties, hand-cut fries, and hand-shredded lettuce are all prepared daily from scratch as well. The meat has a perfect 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio.
Furthermore, FIVE GUYS only use potatoes from Holland, grown above the 42nd parallel. The potatoes grow during the day when it is warm and stop at night once it cools down, causing them to be of denser, higher quality. To ensure freshness, our ingredients are only refrigerated.
By maintaining a simple ethos, coupled with the highest quality, the Murrells continue to follow through on the vision they outlined in 1986. The emphasis on freshness and quality has led to FIVE GUYS’ global success.
FIVE GUYS Menu
FIVE GUYS offers a plethora of choices, where patrons have 15 burger toppings to choose from. As such, there are approximately 250,000 burger combinations one can choose from based on their unique preferences.
Nothing beats pairing burgers and fries with a milkshake. FIVE GUYS shakes have a creamy, vanilla base. There are a total of 8 free premium mix-ins, such as peanut butter, and fresh strawberries that are prepared fresh in-store daily. As such, there are over 1,000 different flavour combinations!
Need some help deciding what to put on your burger? Try something that will hit all of your taste buds’ receptors: sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami! Some of our favourites:
- Hamburger with relish, pickles, tomatoes, grilled jalapeños and hot sauce!
- Grilled cheese sandwich with a patty, grilled mushrooms, onions, green peppers and mustard.
- Cheeseburger with pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. Ask for the cajun spices from the fries to be added to your patty to spice it all up
In addition, customers can opt for burger buns to be replaced with lettuce leaves for a fresh and crispy twist or go completely bunless in a burger bowl – perfect for those looking to indulge in keto-friendly meals.
