ZUS Coffee – the local homegrown coffee brand is celebrating its 100th outlet, the ZUS Academy. In times of uncertainty, this outlet centres on “giving back”, creating at least 1,000 job opportunities by the end of 2022.
Through this educational arm, the Academy intends to raise thought leaders in the coffee industry, encouraging creative expression through the art of coffee and equipping them with retail knowledge and other transferable skills in their careers.
Brewing to become a national coffee brand, ZUS Coffee is driven to provide an “Inspired Excellence” that is consistent at every touchpoint. Be it from the online delivery and pick-up via the ZUS Coffee mobile app to its 360-degree retail experience, its success formula is through the careful craft of experience and scale.
The 100th outlet is specially designed to be more than just a retail space. Primarily, it functions as an Academy for baristas, founded to nurture consistency in all aspects, from careful food handling and hygiene to service with a smile.
At ZUS Academy, customers get to enjoy the product of attentive craftsmanship as they watch the process unfold before their very eyes. Steered by the hands of experienced baristas and meticulous assessment systems, trainees will learn to craft ZUS Coffee’s cup of necessity that’s both familiar and loved by its customers.
On-the-job baristas are also provided refresher courses to keep abreast with the latest developments in the coffee scene and given a platform to share their day-to-day experiences serving the community.
ZUS Coffee also has another cause to celebrate. After more than two years in operation, ZUS Coffee has attained the HALAL certification by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
Products and ingredients used in all outlets are the same and undergo thorough verification processes by JAKIM. This marks another milestone in ZUS Coffee’s effort to be even closer to the community.
Since its inception, ZUS Coffee has been a Halal-friendly establishment with zero compromises from farm to cup. Having been awarded the HALAL certification does not affect ZUS Coffee’s trajectory and identity, but lends credibility via acknowledgement by JAKIM.
Massive planning and comprehensive training will birth 1,000 new qualified baristas with a strong commitment to quality in every output – from tamping to timing; from service to experience – prioritising food safety aspects, hygiene and sanitation to give its community, through every sip and every bite, peace of mind.
