Parkson, a well-known name in the world of fashion, beauty, and home & living, is taking a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future.
With the launch of its first-ever Green Campaign, the company is making a bold statement about their commitment to environmental responsibility. This sustainability initiative is designed to promote eco-friendly practices in their stores, focusing on the Fashion, Beauty, and Home & Living departments.
A Green Journey at Parkson Pavilion Bukit Jalil
The Green Campaign will unfold at Parkson Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s Skylight Atrium, a space that boasts the prestigious title of the Highest Skylight Atrium in a Department Store according to the Malaysia Book of Records. From September 28th to October 31st, 2023, this atrium will transform into a hub of sustainable inspiration.
Think Green, Act Green: A Unique Approach
Parkson’s Think Green, Act Green Campaign is not just another sustainability initiative. It’s a unique and innovative approach that seeks to educate shoppers about the importance of sustainable practices, emphasising the principles of Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
By collaborating with vendors and partners, Parkson has created a green awareness campaign that showcases the use of recycled structures and materials.
Participating Vendors and Renowned Brands
Some of the most renowned brands in the business, including Akemi, Alain Delon, Anakku, Avanti, Cheetah, Conquest, Cotton Feel, Eminent, Forest, Hario, Hot Focus, Infancie, Kinohimitsu, Kose, Kraftee, La Gourmet, Maglifestyle, Pigeon, Robotime, Sachs, Santa Barbara, Sembonia, Tiger, Varage, Voir, and Wacoal, have come together to offer products made from green materials. This is a testament to their commitment to sustainability.
A Farewell to Single-Use Plastic Bags
One of the most significant steps Parkson is taking as part of the Think Green, Act Green effort is discontinuing all single-use plastic bags.
Customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable shopping bags, and Parkson will provide biodegradable paper bags at a minimal charge of RM0.50 for small sizes and RM0.70 for larger ones. It’s a simple yet impactful way to reduce plastic waste.
Donating for a Cause
Parkson is also urging its shoppers to contribute to the green cause by donating items they no longer need, such as clothes, clothing accessories, paper items like books and magazines, children’s toys, and batteries. The Recycle Box, located in-store, is the designated spot for these donations, and the initiative is in collaboration with CRC (Community Recycle for Charity).
Building a Reusable Bag Community
To make it even more convenient for shoppers to embrace sustainable habits, Parkson will set up a Reusable Bag Community Station where customers can drop off their spare reusable bags for others to pick up and use. It’s a fantastic way to kick-start the community’s eco-journey.
Student Creativity and Sustainability
In partnership with City University, Parkson is taking sustainability to the fashion world. They will showcase 12 exclusive fashion pieces created by students using recycled materials. These unique designs will be on display at Parkson Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s Skylight Atrium, giving shoppers a glimpse of the creativity and innovation that sustainability can inspire.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to meet local designer sisters Yen and Shirley from MagLifestyle, who will share their insights and experiences as popular fashion brands in Malaysia.
Green Offers & Rewards
In addition to its commitment to sustainability, Parkson has some exciting offers in store for its loyal customers during the Green Campaign. Shoppers using their AmBank Visa Credit Card will find themselves in for a treat. With a minimum spend of RM200, they’ll receive a RM20 Parkson Gift Voucher, an exclusive reward that’s available while stocks last.
Furthermore, shoppers who spend RM50 storewide will receive a complimentary eco-hydrating sample pack from GloveOn, available on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. Spritzer, a brand known for its commitment to environmental responsibility, will also be part of the initiative.
