The Keretapi Sarong Event Is Back This Year On Malaysia Day

Keretapi Sarong Event 2022 On Merdeka Day 16th September

The Keretapi Sarong event has been done virtually for the past two years due to the pandemic and will be back for its physical iteration this year.

The innovative minds behind the Keretapi Sarong event chose to use the sarong as a symbol of unity to mark Malaysia Day. The sarong is a traditional piece of cloth that is frequently turned into a garment or worn simply by wrapping.

People from all walks of life come together for Keretapi Sarong to celebrate Hari Malaysia in their traditional sarongs at a hidden location. Similar to a flash mob, but with the public encouraged to participate.

This lavish event aims to promote integration among Malaysians from all backgrounds, promote the use of public transportation, and uphold the Sarong as a symbol of such integration.

For the Keretapi Sarong 2022, as usual, the secret location will be revealed on the day when people gather together at the five checkpoints – MRT Kajang, LRT Gombak, LRT Subang, MRT Bandar Utama and LRT Ampang (people will gather here first, then move together to the secret venue).

Numerous events, including folk song singing, traditional dancing (Joget Lambak), traditional games, performances, quizzes, and a few competitions, will take place both at the stations and the final location.

Additionally, while you are travelling to the destination, there will also be singing and dancing performances on each train.
