Hong Kong Opens Its Doors Wider to Muslim Travelers with Enhanced Halal Offerings

Hong Kong is making significant strides in its journey to become a top destination for Muslim travellers, offering a growing array of services and facilities tailored to their needs. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has been instrumental in this transformation, focusing on increasing the number of accredited hotels and halal-certified eateries.

A Surge in Muslim-Friendly Accreditations

As of February 2025, a remarkable 52 hotels in Hong Kong have earned accreditation from Crescent Rating (CR), a leading authority in Muslim travel marketing. These accreditations reflect the hotels’ commitment to providing Muslim-friendly amenities.

Furthermore, the city has witnessed a substantial increase in halal-certified and Muslim-owned restaurants, now totalling 153, up from approximately 100 since the HKTB’s initiative began in June 2024, all accredited by the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong (Board of Trustees).

Rising Popularity and Tangible Results

The impact of these efforts is evident in the impressive 43% and 50% year-on-year increase in arrivals from Indonesia and Malaysia, respectively.
