After almost a year of teasing its first-ever store opening in Malaysia, famous Japanese discount chain store Don Don Donki will be opening its doors officially on Friday, 19th March.
Malaysia’s First-Ever Store
For those who have traveled to Japan, Don Don Donki or known in Japan as Don Quijoteis is most definitely not an unfamiliar name. However, the first Malaysian store will be called differently as it’s named “JONETZ by DON DON DONKI”.
This huge chain store is famous in Japan for its iconic, adorable blue penguin mascot and has over 160 stores across Japan, all of which are stocked with shelves and shelves of Japanese snacks, a wide variety of food items, clothing, groceries, beauty products, clothing, and all sorts of merchandise!
Don Don Donki Around The World
Founded by Takao Yasuda, the franchise is over 30 years old and has opened stores across the world and came to our neighbours Singapore in 2017. Over there, the Don Don Donki is more than just a store selling the typical items as there are stalls and hot food as well as bentos, similar to Family Mart but bigger.
As the first-ever outlet in Malaysia, the store is said to be taking up three floors at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang, which isn’t out of the ordinary as the stores in Japan are huge multistorey stores with the biggest being a seven-floor store in Shibuya.
So if you’ve been wanting to travel to Japan, this store will have to do for now! This will be your closest bet to getting a Japanese Don Don Donki store experience with all the Japanese food and snacks!
