Break Fast This Ramadhan At CNN’s Best New Restaurant In Asia – The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar

Chow Kit Restaurant Berbuka Puasa

This year, The Chow Kit – an Ormond Hotel is very excited to welcome Ramadhan as it will be an extra special month as Malaysians from all around the world are now able to come home to reconnect with family and friends after 2 long years of being apart due to the pandemic.

As the holy month approaches, The Chow Kit Kitchen will bring delight to this year’s Ramadhan through its sumptuous menu, Citarasa Ramadhan. Specially designed by the hotel’s culinary experts, it starts from 3rd April to 2nd May 2022, Citarasa Ramadhan will be available at the award-winning restaurant for a beautiful tradition of breaking a well-endured fast.

The iftar feast is a spread of delicious cuisine inspired by familiar flavours of home served ‘dulang’ style. It begins with a classic serving of an array of sweet Malay kuih muih and red dates to get you started followed by charcoal grilled Satay Ayam served with a sweet and savoury peanut sauce and Cucur Udang, deep-tried tiger prawns with a chilli plum sauce.

The mains include star dishes such as Curry Udang, tiger prawns cooked in fragrant coconut curry, lady fingers, tomatoes & tofu pok and the Rendang Dendeng is a traditional braised beef tenderloin in aromatic rendang sauce, kaffir lime and kerisik. Next on the menu is the Burung Puyuh Berempah, an asian-spiced marinated quail, deep-fried to golden perfection and tossed with crispy curry leaves.

After that, it will be followed by the impressive Golden Sea Bass – a whole sea bass deep-fried and served with sweet, tangy & spicy mango salsa. Providing relief from the juicy and succulent meat is a choice of vegetable. Patrons can choose between the Tempoyak Daun Kayu, pucuk ubi leaves slow-cooked in fermented durian mixed with creamy coconut milk and Kacang Botol Sambal Belacan, stir-fried four angled-beans in spicy dried shrimp paste topped with crispy shallots.

To complement the mains, guests will be served with fragrant and savoury Saffron Rice. A dessert is definitely a must to complete the meal, hence they’ve thrown a classic favourite into the mix; Royal Pudding. The smooth and silky egg custard sits on a bed of caramelised banana slices, topped with prune, candied cherries & cashew nuts. Honey Chrysanthemum Tea is served to be enjoyed throughout the meal and Teh Tarik at the end of the meal.

The Citarasa Ramadhan will be available for small groups of 2 to 3 guests at RM250 and families of 4 to 5 guests at RM450. For those who are coming in larger groups or would just like to try more items on this exclusive menu, add-on options are available including sweet Flower Crab Curry for RM80 and aromatic Mutton Soup for RM30 is one not to miss.

Finally, the Tiffin Set is a takeaway option for 2 to 3 persons for those who prefer to break fast in the comfort of their homes or to send to a loved one as a gift.
