A Sneak Peak At The New Studio Ghibli Park In Japan Opening On 1st November 2022

First announced in 2017, Studio Ghibli Park in Japan is now gearing up for its grand opening on 1st November 2022 with the official announcement that tickets to the park are now available for purchase.

The park was developed with the surrounding forest in mind as it is being built on and within the grounds of Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park (Moricoro Park).

The park will cover over 200 hectares and will be located in the town of Nagakute, near Nagoya, which is just less than two hours away by train from the city of Kyoto.

Attractions At The Studio Ghibli Park

The first phase of construction which is part of the opening on November 1, 2022, includes Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Dondoko Forest.

Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse is an indoor facility that stores all of the studio’s secrets, from large to small artifacts and exhibits from past Studio Ghibli movies.

Visitors will be able to experience fantasy-filled exhibitions such as Robot Soldier, Cat Bus, and kid-sized film studio exhibitions, to materials and resources that reveal the secrets of Studio Ghibli films.

On the Hill of Youth, there stands World Emporium, the antique shop from Whisper of the Heart. Additionally, in Dondoko Forest, Dondoko-do awaits you at the top of the forest hill that sits behind Satsuki and Mei’s House.

The other two areas include the Mononoke Village and the Valley of Witches which will open after 2023.

You shouldn’t expect Studio Ghibli Park to be like a typical theme park with rides and attractions as it will be more about immersion and experiences.
