This announcement was made during a recent Media and Influencers Hi-Tea hosted by Tourism Selangor at Tamarind Springs, Ampang. The event gathered over 100 members of the media and content creators to celebrate their ongoing support and to share key updates on the state’s tourism initiatives.

Strengthening Collaboration With Media
The recent media and influencer event underscored the importance of strong partnerships in promoting Selangor as a tourism destination.
YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Selangor’s State Executive Councillor for Local Government and Tourism, noted that the state recorded 34.5 million domestic visitors in 2024, making it the top local travel destination in Malaysia.
As of March 2025, Selangor has already welcomed 1.77 million tourists, with 72 per cent domestic travellers and 28 per cent international. The top foreign visitor markets include China, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and India. The state’s 2025 target is 8 million arrivals and RM11.2 billion in tourism revenue.
Chua Yee Ling, CEO of Tourism Selangor, highlighted the upcoming Travel Fair as a key touchpoint in the Visit Selangor Year campaign. She also announced the launch of Phase 2 of the Visit Selangor Year Tourism Grant, which opened for applications on 1 July and runs until 31 October 2025. A total of RM300,000 has been allocated to support local tourism initiatives.
A Glimpse Of Selangor Hospitality
During the hi-tea event, guests enjoyed a taste of Thai cuisine along with a variety of interactive cultural activities. These included batik painting, DIY flower tag making, succulent planting, and a food review segment, reflecting the type of hands-on experiences that are becoming a signature of Selangor’s tourism offerings.
Looking Ahead
The Selangor Travel Fair 2025 is more than a showcase of destinations; it is a celebration of collaboration between tourism stakeholders, content creators, and communities. From exclusive promotions and live entertainment to workshops and cultural activities, the fair presents a comprehensive look at what makes Selangor a unique destination.
As Visit Selangor Year 2025 reaches its halfway point, this event marks a pivotal moment in the state’s journey to position itself as a key player in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
